As an outcome of Akerman Daly’s collaboration with the Tall Tales project, we are pleased to present Ruth Barker’s new poem and audio work, These Things That We Do.
Originally a performance titled, The Foot Exerts a Pressure on the Surface of the Glass, which was presented at the Freud Museum in 2016, the work has been reconfigured as an audio piece and as a Riso print produced in a limited edition of 100 copies.
Tall Tales is a national touring programme bringing together the work of 17 international female artists using storytelling in their work. Akerman Daly supported three artists, Oona Grimes, Ruth Barker and Alinah Azadeh, as publishing partner to the project.
We commissioned two new library shelves from Alinah Azadeh and Oona Grimes, and our work with Ruth Barker continued over the course of 2016, resulting in a new text work and audio sound work to be sent out to AD subscribers.
A Tall Tales panel discussion at the Freud Museum, London on 16 April 2016 was chaired by Jeremy Akerman. The panel included Oona Grimes (artist), Rachel Goodyear (artist), Carol Seigel (Director of the Freud Museum) and Dr Cleo Van Velsen (Clinician in the Personality Disorder Medium Secure Unit in East London).
